Armenia Winter Tour

Route – Yerevan – Echmiadzin – Khor Virap – Oshakan – Tsaghkadzor – Sevan – Aghveran – Garni – Geghard – Yerevan.

Day 1

Meeting at the airport, transfer from the airport to the hotel and accommodation. Lunch in the city. City tour. Visit to Matenadaran and the Historical Museum of Armenia. Matenadaran – Deposit of 17.000 ancient books and rare illuminate manuscripts. Dinner in restaurant.

Day 2

Breakfast, excursion to the city of Echmiadzin, the centre of the Armenian Apostolic Church. Inside the main church you can also see what are the Holy Lance and piece of Noah’s Ark. After visiting The Cathedral of Echmiadzin (4th century), St. Ripsime and St. Gayane of the 7th century. Lunch in typical restaurant. Visit of Zvartnotz ( 7th century) where you can see the ruins of the ancient circular church. Return to Yerevan. Dinner in restaurant.

Day 3

Breakfast. Visit to Khor Virap Monastery. Khor Virap – place of imprisonment Gregory the Illuminator, founder of the Armenian Apostolic Church. Visit to Oshakan. After lunch visiting to the Church of St. Mashtots, (in the underground sarcophagus the relics of creator of the Armenian alphabet and writing are kept). Return to Yerevan. Dinner in restaurant.

Days 4 to 8

Breakfast and check-out from the hotel. Departure to Tsaghkadzor, hotel accommodation for 2 days. City tour. Then free time for visiting Kecharis monastery (16century), where you can discover for you the Armenian medieval architecture. Fans of skiing can reach up to Teghenis by the cable car, which starts from the valley of Tandzhaghbyur and has a length of 4699 meters and height of 544 meters, they can also ride on a sled. Free day in Tsakhkadzor. In the evening – entertainments.

Days 8 to 10

Departure to Sevan. Excursion to Lake Sevan. The Lake is called “the pearl of Armenia”. A lake of great beauty, it lies 2000 m above sea level and is one of the largest mountain lakes in the world. You will visit the Arakelots Monastery (874 A.D.) and Astvatsatsin Church on the Sevan Peninsula. Lunch at a local restaurant . Free day in Sevan. Return to Tsakhkadzor.

Days 11 to 13

Departure to Kotayk region, Aghveran. Free day in Aghveran. In the next day Visit to Garni Pagan Temple (1st c. B.C.) and Geghard Monastery (10th-13th) situated in a solid rock Behind the main church is another chapel, which has the most incredible acoustics. Dinner in a local restaurant. Overnight stay in hotel.

Day 14

Breakfast in the morning, return to Yerevan. Visiting the museum and monument of Tsitsernakaberd .Visit to Vernissage. – exhibitions – sales of craftsmen’s products. Free day in Yerevan. In the evening good-bye dinner.

Day 15

Transfer to the airport.
